Wild Plants & Clay
Sunday, 29th June | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Moat Farm, Shadoxhurst, Kent
£75
This workshop invites you to connect with nature, clay, and the beauty of wildflowers.
Together we’ll spend the morning on a stunning 300-acre wildlife farm, crafting unique botanical ceramic plates that capture the essence of the season.
Step away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and immerse yourself in a slower, more mindful pace.
What to Expect:
I am so excited to offer this special workshop for anyone longing to gather in a peaceful, flower-filled environment. You’ll have the chance to make your own beautiful plate, which will be fired and ready to collect from my studio later!
Foraging & Edible Plant Walk
With baskets in hand, we’ll wander through meadows and ancient woodlands, gathering plants to press into clay.
Along the way, I’ll introduce you to native and medicinal plants, from the golden yellow rattle to soft pink clover and the acorns of the mighty oak tree.
You’ll be able to choose the plants that speak to you for your plate, and we’ll also gather some to create a delicious herbal tea to enjoy while we work.
Clay Plate Making
Once we return to Jake’s Barn, we’ll sip our homemade tea as I guide you through the process of shaping and imprinting your foraged plants into the clay.
Each plate will be glazed in a soft, matte oatmeal finish to beautifully highlight the delicate patterns left by your chosen plants.
Seasonal Cake & Foraged Herbal Tea
While we’re crafting, we’ll enjoy a seasonal vegan cake and freshly brewed herbal tea. Perfect for taking a moment to pause, reflect, and savour the surroundings as we create.
Practical Details:
Your beautiful ceramic plate will be fired and glazed after the session, and it will be ready for collection from my studio on the Wye Downs eight weeks later. I’ll email you when it’s ready to pick up!
The foraging walk will be slow-paced and last around 30-45 minutes. If the weather is kind, we’ll work outside under the oak tree by Jake’s Barn. If the weather is less favorable, we’ll gather inside the barn, and the walk will be a little shorter. Please bring shoes you don’t mind being a little muddy!
All materials, tools, and firings are included. Just bring comfortable clothes and an open mind!
Parking is free and on-site. After booking, I’ll send you further details and directions to the location.
Accessibility:
If you have accessibility concerns, please feel free to email me, and I will do my best to accommodate where possible. However, please keep in mind that this event takes place outdoors in a rustic setting, where smooth ground is limited.
Breakages:
After the workshop I will be transporting your wares to my studio and will do so with the utmost care. Due to the many variable factors in the process, there is always a risk of technical failures and breakages that are beyond control. The beauty (and frustration!) with ceramics is the art of letting go, something I still struggle with. I will do my absolute best to make sure that your work makes it into your hands after firing!
Cancellations & Refund Policy :
If you are unable to make the workshop please let me know as soon as possible. I will do my best to accommodate where I can.
Cancellations made more than two weeks (14 days) before the workshop date will be refunded, minus a £10 admin fee.
To ensure that the class remains viable for others, cancellations made within the two weeks before the workshop date (13 days or less) are non-refundable.
If you can’t attend, you’re welcome to pass your booking to a friend. Just be sure to let me know in advance. Please note that refunds won’t be available for no-shows.
